CSCG behind-the-scenes 1

kinosternon:

I’m uploading the… (checks doc) 14th chapter of Chasing Silver, Chasing Gold today. That means that somehow, I’ve been updating weekly (give or take a day) for over 3 months, which is probably the longest I’ve ever continuously kept up with a project. I’m not planning on stopping anytime soon, but I’ve also never had a project quite like this one. It’s all new territory.

The story’s in a weird place right now, too. I wanted to talk about it a little more, but my thoughts got too long to comfortably fit in an author’s note, so I’m dumping them here. (This way, everyone who’s just along for the feels and doesn’t want to think about it too hard doesn’t feel any obligation to look at them.)

For the record, it’s not all happy stuff, though I hope it’s constructive. But that’s the kind of story this has been from the beginning, right? Maybe it’s not so strange that the process behind the story is similar to the story itself.

screenshot of Threads post by ryollie90: Just thinking about how the plot in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER is about how N*zis infiltrated the U.S. government from the inside out, in broad daylight, over the course of decades. No reason whatsoever why I’d be thinking about this today… with a reply by makeda_cox saying God I wish he was real with a picture of Steve Rogers's in his stealth suit, untying his shield on his backALT

we need to remind people that the central, pivotal plot point was

a secret A.I. tracked everyone by their social media,

including identifying targets *before* they did anything to oppose,

and then launched missiles at them. on domestic soil

watch the film. it came out as military excess/surplus flowed into local police / national guard hands, which is how many BLM protestors were targeted with facial recognition *back then*.

flash forward to May 2025! see what we ‘learned’

I hope this joke outlives the context that made it, leaving future generations baffled.

There is NOTHING on this godforsaken earth that will make the girlies reach the pinnacle of their artistic expression like doomed yuri. I go into the madohomu tag and Michelangelo is in there. Van Gogh is rolling himself a joint after posting mizisua art. Picasso is snorting coke with revue starlight fans. And let’s not even get into whatever the locked tomb girlies have got goin on

i truly do think that media piracy is an incredible feat of human compassion when you consider just how many opportunities to engage with art and develop their knowledge many people would otherwise be prevented from by factors such as financial stability and the social climate they live in. everyone should have the opportunity to experience art and learn, no matter what. i refuse to compromise on that.

The AIDS Memorial Quilt is made up of panels that are 3 ft by 6 ft, which is about the size of a grave. The panels are then sewn together into 12 ft by 12 ft squares, and the entire quilt covers 1.3 million square feet and weighs 54 tons. The size of the panels is meant to represent how much land would be covered if all the people who died from AIDS were lined up head to toe

I saw the AIDS Memorial Quilts exhibit when they came to Ft. Worth in 1993. It was such a powerful & emotional experience that I’ll never forget. I still have the shirt from it

Today is World AIDS Day
